CHINGUACOUSY TOWNSHIP, PEEL COUNTY, ONTARIO

Peel County Ontario,
Woodhill Public School,
April 1942, Class Photo

Union School Section #17 Chinguacousy, #3 Toronto Gore.

The first school for this section was a log structure located in the southeast corner of lot 6, concession 6 east, Chinguacousy, and was built sometime before 1854. In 1863, a brick structure was built on the same lot. In 1942, the Toronto Gore section (#3) was assigned to the Malton Victory school, and the Woodhill school was known simply as S.S. #17, Chinguacousy. The school served the section until June 1960. It was then closed and the students were transferred to Aloma Crescent Public School in Bramalea.
